WWII Japanese Navy Officer Kai Gunto Sword
$1,250.00
The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 38 inches, with a blade length of approximately 26 inches. The blade is bright, with a few minor smudges and scratches, as well as a coating of old oil. The tang bears the incised anchor proof mark of the Imperial Navy. The blade exhibits a straight temper line. The tsuba is plain. The grip is covered in black ray skin, with a wrap in the traditional fashion in dark brown tape. Beneath the wrap on each side are the standard military menuki with three cherry blossoms. The wood scabbard covering shows typical scuffs and scratches, and the gilt fittings show wear to the finish, but the scabbard is complete and intact. Overall the sword is in very good condition.
