WWII Serial Numbered Printed Silk China Burma India Theater Blood Chit
Approximately 8 by 10 1/2 inches. The chit is actually the first version of the Chinese government blood chit which was modified to add kanji which specifically identified the bearer of the chit as an American. This added kanji for “American” is seen at the bottom of the second column from the viewer’s right, and it appears markedly lighter than the other kanji on the chit. The chit, as originally printed, read “This foreign person has come to China to help in the war effort”, and the added kanji changed the sentence to read “This foreign person (American) has come to China to help in the war effort”. The chit bears the large red chop of the Nationalist Chinese Government Committee in Aeronautical Affairs, and it is serial numbered “2632”. It shows some spots and it has a horizontal fold line.
