WWII Poster “Enlist in the Coast Guard SPARS” 28 by 42 Inches

A one sheet size recruiting poster for the U.S. Coast Guard Women’s Reserve, known as “SPARS”, in World War II. The name of “SPARS” was fashioned by taking the first letters of the Coast Guard’s Latin motto of “Semper Paratus, and combining that “SP” with the first letters of the motto’s English translation, “Always Ready” to create “SPAR”. The poster has the typical fold lines as well as tack holes in the corners but it is in overall very good condition.
