WWII Painted Japanese Flight Jacket Decorated In Occupied Japan


A World War II Japanese Army flight jacket that was worn by a member of a 24th Infantry Division anti-tank unit following the end of the war. The jacket interior carries the large cloth Japanese issue label on which the G.I. wrote his name: “Gene Haines”. The cloth name tag rectangle on the front of the jacket was painted with the name “Gene”. The left shoulder carries a painted 24th Infantry Division insignia while the right breast displays a painted dragon insignia. The back of the jacket was painted with an anti-tank gun. There are several short tears of the jacket fabric on the lower right sleeve, the longest being approximately 3 inches long.
