WWII Japanese Army Officer’s Sun Helmet
The cork body of the sun helmet is covered in tropical weight khaki wool. The helmet appears to exhibit only minimal wear, with some light exterior spots and minor interior staining from wear. The interior is lined in silk with a celluloid shield in the crown that has a small piece missing from it. Beneath the sweat shield is a maker logo, printed in gold and in English, reading “Tropical Helmet”, “Hare Brand”, and “Superior Manufacture”. The chin strap remains in place over the front visor, and the Japanese Army star is affixed to the front. The sun helmet has some relatively minor moth tracking to the wool exterior but overall it is quite clean and makes a very good appearance.
