WWII Japanese Army EM/NCO Canteen with Kanji Notations
The canteen reflects early war production, when the stopper was retained with a leather strap and both the stopper strap and the shoulder strap utilized metal buckles. The leather strap and the multiple buckles were features that would later be eliminated as wartime measures to conserve resources. The canteen is in very good field used condition, with typical rust to the metal buckles. The canteen has notations in kani scratched into the paint on one side, likely the name and unit of the soldier who carried the canteen.
