WWII First Pattern 1942 Dated German Army Pith Helmet
The pith helmet is the style covered in khaki cloth, and it has some spots and other indications of wear and use in the field. The chin strap is broken and only one end remains attached to the helmet. The underside of the interior sweatband is dated 1942. The sweatband itself has an impressed manufacturer mark. It also has a stamp which reads “Made in Germany”, indicating that the helmet was sent to the United States after the war, at which time import regulations required that goods coming into the country be marked with the country of manufacture, even if the item had not been manufactured for export.
