WWII 13th Airborne Division Glider Troops Corporal Ike Jacket

$575.00

The Ike jacket has “U.S.” and infantry branch collar disks, with a 13th Airborne Division patch on the left shoulder and a First Allied
Airborne Army patch on the right shoulder. On the upper left breast is a sterling silver, full size, 1-1/2 inch, pin back Glider Troops wing with a combat operations star, as well as the ribbon for the Army Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, and the World War II Victory Medal. The presence of a combat action star on the glider wing, as well as two campaign stars on the European Campaign ribbon, suggest that the Corporal who wore the tunic had previous service in a glider unit that participated in a combat action, likely Normandy or the Rhine Crossing, before becoming a member of the 13th Airborne Division. Below the ribbon bars is an Army Sharpshooter badge with the bars “Sharpshooter”, “Carbine”, and “Pistol”. Each sleeve carries Technical Corporal chevrons, and the interior pocket has a Quartermaster Depot tag with a stated size of 36 Regular. On the upper right breast is the Honorable Discharge patch. The jacket is in excellent condition.
