WWI Gold Star Mothers and Widows Pilgrimage Roster of American Dead in Europe
Hardcover, large format book, approximately 9 1/4 by 11 1/2 inches in size, 339 pages. The book was published by the War Department in 1930 in anticipation of a series of pilgrimages in which the mothers and widows of the American dead of World War I could travel to Europe at government expense to visit the graves of their sons or daughters. The book lists all American service personnel who were buried in the military cemeteries of Europe, giving their units of service as well. The lists identify the mother or widow of each service member, their address, and whether they intended to participate in one of the pilgrimages. Divided according to state and county, the book is an excellent reference source for researching the Americans who died or who were killed in action and buried in military cemeteries in Europe. The book has soiling to the cover and age toning of the pages, but overall the book is in very good condition and it is complete and intact.
