The helmet shows expected spots and scratches to the exterior, with some typical surface rust, however the helmet is without damage and it makes a very good appearance. The interior leather liner band is present although the three liner pads are missing. The fabric chin strap is present and intact. The Model 5 experimental helmet was manufactured in 1918 by the firm of Hale & Kilburn.
