U.S. Navy Graduated Midshipman Bullion Shoulder Knots
From 1869 until 1912, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis was required to serve on ship for two years before being commissioned as an Ensign. During that time between graduation and commissioning, the Naval Academy graduates prior to 1912 wore these special shoulder knots to designate their status as “Midshipman graduated from the Naval Academy”. These knots are in very good condition, with beautifully toned gold bullion on dark blue velvet.
