Third Reich FAD Freiwillige Arbeits Dienst Labor Service Buckle by Assmann

In 1929 Adolf Hitler instructed Konstantin Hierl to form the National Socialist Freiwillige Arbeits Dienst, or Volunteer Labor Service. The organization was the first labor group to have a official design for its belt buckle. The FAD was later replaced by the RAD, the Reichs Arbeits Dienst, or Reich Labor Service, under Hierl. The steel buckle has spots and shows age but is in overall good condition. The interior bears the distinctive stylized “A” and the “A&S” mark of the firm of Assmann & Son.
