Third Reich Commercial Medium Weight M18 Luftschutz Helmet

The medium weight helmet is an example of the commercially produced M18 style combat helmet, some of which were purchased by towns or cities for issuance to the air defense organization, while others were utilized by the SS until the introduction of the M35 combat helmet. This example shows a field gray paint finish to the interior, while the exterior was painted with the blue gray paint of the Luftschutz. The exterior shows some spots of wear to the finish, with the helmet having several indentations from use. The Luftschutz decal on the front of the helmet is nearly completely intact. The interior leather liner band is present, with the liner pads intact. The liner shows wear and it lacks the drawstring. The chinstrap is broken. Overall an uncommon example of the Third Reich helmet in very good condition.
