Spanish Civil War Nationalist Army Engineer Captain Tunic and Overseas Cap
An extremely clean example of the uniform tunic and overseas cap of a Captain of Engineers in the pro-Franco Nationalist Army of Spain during the Spanish Civil War. The tunic has bullion engineer collar insignia and bullion rank stars on the sleeve, all of which are directly embroidered onto the tunic. The right breast pocket exhibits the embroidered distinctive unit crest of the troops of the Spanish Nationalist Army from the province of Navarre. The tunic is without stains or holes and shows only light wear. A tailor label is present on the interior lining which shows that the tunic was tailored in the city of Murcia. On the left breast are three loops for the wear of a breast star decoration, and this was almost certainly the Spanish Cross of Military Merit, breast star that typically had a central vertical pin and side pins on the arms of the cross. The overseas cap is also quite clean, being free of holes and showing only the interior spots that were caused by wear of the cap. The front has two metal stars. Overall the set is in exceptional condition.
