Japanese Navy 1st Class Engine Operation Badge

From the excellent website “Imperial Japan Medals and Badges” dot com: “Awarded to NCOs who were Navy machinists. They had to pass tests in war maneuvering, electrical maintenance and operation, controlled fires, supplying water, supplying oil, etc.” The badge is in excellent condition with fine enamel and dark, uncleaned patina. It is contained within its fitted, titled leather case, which shows expected signs of age and wear.
