A group of 13 documents that relate to the Pennsylvania and United States Army military service of Captain Ralph Victor Harold Wood between 1924 and 1939. The group is comprised of the following documents:

– Appointment as a Corporal in the 103rd Cavalry Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard, June, 1924, 8 1/2 by 11 inches;
– Discharge from the Pennsylvania cavalry at the age of 18, June, 1925. The reverse of the document indicates that Wood enlisted in 1922, when he would have been about 16 years old. 8 1/2 by 11 inches;
– Appointment as a Cadet First Lieutenant in the ROTC Corps of the University of Pennsylvania, October, 1925. 10 3/4 by 13 3/4 inches;
– Appointment as a Cadet Major in the ROTC Corps of the University of Pennsylvania, October, 1926. 10 3/4 by 13 3/4 inches;
– Appointment as a Sergeant in the 103rd Cavalry, Pennsylvania National Guard, May, 1927. 8 1/4 by 14 inches;
– Appointment as a Second Lieutenant of cavalry in the Army of the United States, January, 1927. 8 by 11 3/4 inches;
– Appointment as a Second Lieutenant of cavalry in the Pennsylvania National Guard, February, 1931. 11 by 17 inches;
– Appointment as a First Lieutenant of cavalry in the Pennsylvania National Guard, December, 1931. 11 by 17 inches;
– Appointment as a Second Lieutenant of cavalry in the Army of the United States, May, 1931. 8 by 11 3/4 inches;
– Appointment as a First Lieutenant of cavalry in the Army of the United States, February, 1932. 8 by 11 3/4 inches;
– Certificate of Membership in the National Geographic Society, January, 1934. 8 1/4 by 10 1/2 inches;
– Appointment as a Captain of cavalry in the Pennsylvania National Guard, June, 1935. 11 by 17 inches; and
– Certificate as a life member in the American Ordnance Association, October, 1939. 8 3/4 by 14 inches.

All of the documents show some age toning, and a few have spots or marks from the presence of a paper clip, but overall the group is in very good condition.
