The group is comprised of five engraved pre-war athletic competition medals by The Robbins Company for winners of track and field events inf the 245th Coast Artillery Corps of the New York National Guard. The group also includes framed photographs of the long-serving soldier who received the medals and his wife, together with a set of collar disks, being the “U.S.” disk (clutch back” and the disk for Battery K of the 245th Coast Artillery (screw back). The medals are nicely hand engraved for the

– “880 Yd. Relay”;
– “1935 Track”;
– “880 Yd. Inter. Co. Relay”;
– “300 Yd. HD. CP. “; and
– “3/4 Mile Medley Relay”.
The framed photographs are each approximately 3 1/4 by 4 1/4 inches (the glass over the female photograph has a crack in it). On the back of the female’s photograph is a stamp for the “Blue Bird Studio” in Wilmington, Delaware. There is a handwritten notation that appears to read:”SC Dee Ciociola 192/M 7 lt.”. The photograph of the G.I. shows his uniform displaying the ribbons for the Army Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Medal, the European Campaign Medal, and overseas stripes for three years service overseas during World War II
