Posthumous Named and Cased 24th Infantry Division Purple Heart
The slot brooch Purple Heart is named to “Frank V. Thompson”, who was killed in action on June 8, 1945, while serving with the 19th Infantry Regiment of the 24th Infantry Division. The medal is contained within its titled black leather case together with two lengths of ribbon, the ribbon bar, and the enamel lapel badge. There is also a ribbon bar for the Pacific Campaign Medal with three stars and an arrowhead device. The medal is accompanied by the Roland Walsh Adjutant General enclosure card and by a program for a 1948 memorial service for Frank V. Thompson at a church in Indiana. There is also some research material on Thompson. Overall excellent condition.
