Post WWII U.S. Marine Corps Officer Khaki Visor Cap by Berkshire With Sterling EG & A
The khaki tropical wool top shows spots and several scattered holes. The front eagle. globe and anchor officer insignia is marked as “Sterling” and manufacturer marked by Hilborn-Hamburger. The interior of the cap is marked by Berkshire on the sweat shield. The cap body is basket weave construction. Beneath the leather sweatband is the size tag and the cloth tag stating that the garment was manufactured to Marine Corps specifications, that tag having been introduced in the 1950’s. The bottom of the cap band shows some scuffing to the leather, and the leather sweat band has lost some stitching.
