Painted 6th Division M1917 Combat Helmet with Thick Sawdust Camouflage

The helmet had the insignia of the 6th Infantry Division painted on the front after which a thick coating of sawdust was applied to the exterior as camouflage. The exterior retains approximately 60% of the coarse sawdust coating. The liner is present but loose. The chin strap is present although the leather attachment loop on one end is gone and was replaced at some point with a paper clip. Additionally, the chin strap is nearly torn through at one spot.
