Named Korean War Era Marine Corps Vandegrift Uniform
A very fine example of the Marine Corps “Vandegrift” uniform of Private First Class Harold J Haas. The uniform is comprised of the short “Vandegrift” jacket; the matching trousers, and the uniform shirt. Both the jacket and the trousers are named to Haas, and the jacket and the shirt carry Private First Class chevrons. The uniform is in excellent condition, without stains or holes. The set shows the exceptional design that characterized this uniform, such as the loops at the bottom interior of the jacket with corresponding buttons on the interior of the trousers waist, which enabled the Marine to fasten the jacket down to his trousers for a trim, “squared away” look. Private Haas was born in 1926 in Pittsburgh and died in 2016 in New Brunswick, NJ. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1951 and served in the 2nd Marine Air Wing.
