The obverse of the medal reads “Judo” in seal script. The shape of the badge — the sacred mirror — is still the symbol of the Kodokan, the headquarters of the worldwide judo community.
Judo was established in 1882 (from jujutsu) so Meiji 30 (1897) would have been a fairly early organized event Approximately 1 inch wide. Very good condition.
