German Army Engraved Bayonet by Carl Eickhorn
The bayonet has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 13 1/2 inches, with a blade length of approximately 7 3/4 inches. The blade is quite bright, showing typical runner marks, some spots, and some minor disturbances of the plating. One side of the blade bears the raised engraved dedication of “In Remembrance of my Service”, which is flanked by closed wing army eagles. The reverse ricasso has the squirrel trademark and name of the Eickhorn firm. The leather washer is in place at the top of the blade. The black Bakelite grips are without chips or cracks. The pommel and guard show bright, intact plating. The rifle slot on the pommel retains its original red wool filling. The scabbard shows some loss of paint, but the paint would rate as approximately 80 percent intact. Overall the bayonet is in excellent condition.
