1st Cavalry Division Occupied Japan Photo Album
A photograph album compiled by a member of the First Cavalry Division in the immediate post war period. The album is about 7 by 9 3/4 inches and contains approximately 179 photographs. Most of the photographs are identified with captions. The photographs depict a variety of scenes of the soldiers of the First Cavalry Division in occupied Japan, including images of the Division on parade in Tokyo and several photographs in which the men pose with Japanese swords and pistols (although the absence of any combat or campaign ribbons on their uniforms indicates that the weapons must have been “captured” in a pawn shop or other non-combat circumstances. The covers of the album are detached.
