The lighter is engraved as having been presented to Major Harry K. Barber in 1968. The base is maker marked by ABC of Korea. The lighter is in excellent condition.
Major Harry K. Barber was a 1955 graduate of The Citadel. He was ordered to active duty September 1955, where he served in various assignments in Japan, Fort Riley, Kansas; Vietnam (1961-62 and 1968-69), Panama, Birmingham, Alabama; Fort Hauchuca, Arizona; and finally, Fort Jackson, SC, where he retired in 1975. His military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, the National Defense Service Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters.
