1935 Third Reich Army 1 Kompanie Aufklarungsabteilung 7 (4th Panzer Division) Armored Reconnaissance Unit Service Stein
The half liter pottery stein is approximately 6 1/2 inches tall, with a pewter relief lid displaying an M16 combat helmet with Third Reich insignia. The stein is in near mint condition, without chips or cracks. The stein commemorates service in 1935 in the Army’s “Aufklarungsabteilung 7”, an armored reconnaissance unit that was a component of the 4th Panzer Division, which ultimately ended the war fighting in the Kurland (or “Courland”) pocket. The stein imagery depicts a camouflage Sd.Kfz. 231 vehicle. “Sd. Kfz.” was the German military designation for “Sonderkraftfahrzeug”, or “special purpose vehicle”. The vehicles that were designated as Sd.Kfz. 200 to 299 were reconnaissance vehicles, armored cars, armored personnel carriers, and command tanks.
