1820-1840 Eagle Pommel American Sword
The sword has a overall length in the scabbard of approximately 37 inches, with a blade length of approximately 30 inches. The sword has an eagle pommel above a squared, fluted bone grip. There is a cast soldier motif on the guard. The sword carries a clamshell guard with a relief design of an open wing eagle. The blade is a narrow spadroon style, generally dark gray, but with traces of gilt designs still visible at the ricasso. The ricasso also exhibits a maker mark of a crowned head. The brass scabbard has a floral design engraved on one side, shows a few minor bends when viewed along the edge and exhibits a few small dents .
