Rectangular brass cartridge box plate measuring 2-1/2" X 5", worn by members of the Haitian Constabulary (officially designated as the "Gendarmerie"). The Constabulary was formed by the American military in Haiti in 1915, and the first Commandant of the Haitian Constabulary was General Smedley Butler, who was twice the recipient of the Medal of Honor while serving with the United States Marine Corps.
