On Hold

Recently deaccessioned by a Vietnam War museum. The banner is silk, approximately 29 by 41 inches in size. The banner was created by sewing a sickle and hammer to one side of the banner, and on the opposite side the banner was cut out to allow the sickle and hammer to be seen from that side as well. It appears that the banner was undoubtedly red in color originally, with a yellow sickle and hammer. The red color of the banner faded from exposure to light in the field. The banner shows obvious use, with some spots and holes. The banner was annotated on the edge with the place of its capture and the date of "1966".
