Prussian Model 1889 Infantry Officer Sword
The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 39 inches with a blade length of 32 inches. The black celluloid grip is triple wrapped with brass wire that has become loose in spots and with some rust in the recesses of the wire wrap. The grip features the monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm II. The pommel, knuckle bow, and fold down guard are all black in color, with the guard featuring the Prussian eagle. The black finish to the pommel, knuckle bow and guard is approximately 70% intact. The blade is quite bright and unmarked by a maker. The black scabbard paint is approximately 70% intact and there are no dents. The paint on the scabbard ring is gone and the ring has a rusted surface.
