German Lion Head Army Officer Sword by Puma
The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 38 inches, with a blade length of 32 inches. The blade is mirror bright, with some relatively minor spots and scratches, but no chips, nicks, or rust. The ricasso bears the manufacturer mark of the firm of Puma. The guard has a closed wing Wehrmacht style eagle. The pommel is a lion head with red glass eyes. The gilt finish of the pommel, back strap, and knuckle guard, is quite worn, showing the base metal beneath the finish. The grip is celluloid over wood. It is triple wrapped with brass wire. The knuckle guard is adorned with oak leaves in relief and the back strap bears a decorative relief design of oak leaves. The black scabbard paint shows some signs of age and some relatively minor scratches but it is essentially complete and intact.
