click for an even bigger image

Hooked quillon cross guard, bird head pommel, slightly contoured wood grips, and a blade with the manufacturer mark of the Kokura Arsenal (a mark also used by the Tokyo arsenal prior to 1936). The wood grip plates are free of chips or cracks. The blade is the blued style and much of the original finish remains intact. The pommel is serial numbered. The scabbard is blued steel and the blued finish remains largely intact. The leather carrying frog is attached to the bayonet and it shows expected signs of wear but it is complete and the leather remains supple. Overall the bayonet is in in excellent field used condition.
