The figure was manufactured by the Nishi Company of Japan, which began making such figures in the early 1930's. This figure is quite impressive, more that 2 feet tall, and it portrays a Japanese bride in formal wedding attire. The head and shoulders are a composition material while the hands are fabric. The figure's kimono is superbly machine woven brocade with chrysanthemums. The figure is on its original large wooden base, with an identification label on the top and a manufacturer label on the bottom. The pre-war and wartime photograph albums of Japanese military personnel frequently are found to include a wedding photograph that depicts the soldier, sailor or officer, and his bride in the same formal attire worn by this figure. The figure is in excellent condition.
