WWII Marine Corps Construction Unit Theater Made Drape
A large, theater-embroidered silk drape that was likely intended for wear on a Marine Corps field jacket. The standard Marine Corps eagle, globe and anchor emblem was modified to show a pelican instead of an eagle and a shovel in place of an anchor. The usual "Semper Fidelis" motto was replaced by "One Way". The embroidery on the globe depicts the area of the South Pacific, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the east coast of China. The overall size is about 9 1/2 by 12 inches. The silk base has some spots and stains but overall the drape is in very good condition.
