Imperial Bavarian Bell Crown Infantry Shako
Bell crown Imperial Bavarian infantry shako, approximately 9 inches tall overall. The hard leather body is covered in black wool. The infantry front plate and a bullion cockade are displayed on the front. The shako has a fish scale chin strap secured by lion hear side roundels. One of the connecting devices to secure the ends of the chin strap in the front of the helmet is missing. The wool body of the shako has a number of holes of varying sizes but they do not really detract from the appearance of the piece. The leather top and visor show typical age crazing. The shako carries green braided cording on the front and rear, with a green knot draped from the side. The cloth and leather lining is present but the stitching that secures sections of the liner to the helmet has come loose.
