WWII USN/USMC TBY-8 Type Radio Transceiver
The CRI-43044 was one of the models of the TBY-8 radio transmitter-transceiver. Produced beginning in 1941, the radio was used by Navy and Marine Corps personnel as a backpack portable radio. It is a VHF transmitter-receiver which provided two-way communications by voice (telephone) and MCW (telegraphy). The radio operated across 4 bands covering 131 different channels. This example is missing the antenna and telegraphy key, although the telephone style handset is present. It is unknown if the radio is in working order. The unit weighs approximately 15 pounds. The dimensions are approximately 9 3/4 by 8 by 7 inches.
