M-1942 Enamel Army / Marine Corps Canteen
click for an even bigger image

Manufactured only in 1942, the enamel canteen was an attempt to conserve aluminum for aircraft production. The canteen was short lived and, although developed with all forces in mind, it seems that most of the produced examples went to the Marine Corps. This example has a few small chips to the enamel, typical for this model. The base is marked "US", manufacturer marked, and dated "1942".
