Model 1861 Federal Cartridge Box with Bullets
Manufacturer marked on the reverse by the Young Company of Newark. The leather is somewhat dry with scuffing in places, primarily on the cover. The cover has holes that indicate that there was once a "US" box plate on the cover that had three prong attachments. There is now a plate on the box with loops on the reverse and it is held in place with cotter pins. The leather strap that latches the cover to the base of the box was torn into two pieces and was repaired with black tape. The box has five minnie balls and a portion of a bullet inside.
