Author Frank Bennett. Hardcover, published 1896 by Warren & Company of Pittsburgh. 954 pages. The book is a massive volume containing a history of the United States Navy under steam, from the beginning of steam power to 1896. The book measures 7 by 9 1/2 inches, is 3 inches thick and weighs over 3 pounds. The book contains multiple photographic illustrations and fold out diagrams of ships. There are also appendices which include a roster of Navy personnel since the introduction of steam powered ships as well as a list of ships. The binding shows expected signs of wear but overall the volume is in very good condition.
