The impressive gilt oval badge worn by a senior level management official at the U.S. Government's Muscle Shoals, Alabama, nitrate production plant. The facility was to serve as a crucial production facility for gunpowder during the war. The badge is 2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide, pin back, and bears the serial number on the reverse of "392". The badge displays an American eagle, its wings spread, against the American shield. The badges were issued in 3 versions, bronze, silver and gold, with the gold colored badges worn by the senior installation officials. This example has some tarnish to the upper edge and to the reverse but it is in overall very good condition.
