click for an even bigger image

Black wool body with full and complete cap tally around the cap band. The tally reads "Dai Nippon Kaigun Kikan Gakko" ("Greater Japan Naval Engine School"). The school trained and commissioned officers of the Imperial Navy for service in engine departments, and the cap was presumably worn by one of the officer candidates during his training at the school. The large cloth Navy issue tag is present in the interior. The chin strap is present. The cap shows light use. The cap band is slightly misshapen from storage but is in overall excellent used condition.
