Silk flag, approximately 30 by 38 inches, with attachment ties. A tunnel loop runs along all of its sides, within which are evenly distributed sections of buoyant kapok (the same material used in their life-jackets). Of Note: Used as a marker for downed airmen, these light weight, thin silk flags required almost no space to store, and were normally carried in the special pocket found to the lower right front panel of most life-jackets. The flag has typical spots, stains and a number of pencil point holes.
