Named WWII U.S. Navy Commander's Visor Cap
click for an even bigger image

A nice World War II period example of a U.S. Navy officer's visor cap for the rank of Commander or above, manufacturer marked by the Horstmann Company of Philadelphia. The cap has a navy blue wool top with officer cap insignia and gold bullion oak leaf embroidery to the visor. The interior has basket weave construction and bears a card from the Philadelphia Navy Yard with the name "P.G. Watson". The interior of the leather sweat band has a size written on it which appears to be 7 5/8. The cap shows the expected wear and use but it is in overall very good condition.
