Excellent Luftwaffe Officer Sword by Paul Weyersberg
A very fine example of an earlier Luftwaffe officer's sword by the firm of Paul Weyersberg, with nickel silver pommel, guard, and scabbard fittings. The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 27 inches. The blade is quite bright, with only minor instances of the usual scratches. The reverse ricasso bears the manufacturer mark of the firm of Paul Weyersberg, and above the firm mark on the blade is a waffen amt mark. Both the blue leather grip and the blue leather scabbard are in excellent condition, showing only minor scuff marks. The pommel and guard are somewhat dark with uncleaned patina. The nickel plating to the pommel is somewhat worn, showing the brass base beneath the plating around the sun wheel swastika. The leather sword hanger remains attached to the back of the scabbbard throat, and the leather washer is in place at the top of the blade. Overall an excellent example of an earlier Luftwaffe officer's sword, assembled by the Weyersberg firm using the heavier nickel silver (as opposed to aluminum) components.
