WWI Marine Corps Officer 2nd Division Khaki Uniform
The tunic and breeches of a U.S. Marine Corps officer of the first World War. The uniform is a private purchase example in the summer weight cotton khaki, and is in the distinctive Marine Corps style with pointed sleeve cuffs and Marine Corps buttons. On the left shoulder is the multi piece wool patch of the 3/5th Marine Regiment of the 2nd Division. On the lower left sleeve are two overseas service stripes. The shoulders display the rank insignia of a First Lieutenant. The collar has no disks, nor has it ever had any, since it has no holes to receive the disks. The interior collar carries a Boston manufacturer's label. The uniform includes the matching khaki breeches. The set also includes the khaki top for the officer visor cap, with a grommet on the front to take the cap insignia and the distinctive officer's quatrefoil braid on top of the cap. The tunic is in excellent used condition. The breeches show wear and use, with a number of spots, but remain in good used condition.
