click for an even bigger image

The summer version of the Japanese Army EM/NCO visor cap, in lighter weight khaki cotton. This type of cap was widely worn by Imperial Army troops during the China campaigns of the 1930's. The cap has a large interior issue stamp and shows use, with some moth holes in the red wool cap band and heat crazing of the leather visor. There is also a small, precise, hole in the visor as though the cap was a some point tacked up to something. There is also a loop of thread sewn through the back overhang of the cap, as though to allow hanging the cap from a hook.
