Excellent 1942 Japanese Army Type 99 EM/NCO Canteen

An exceptional example of the Type 99 Japanese Army canteen for enlisted and NCO ranks. The bottom of the canteen bears the issue stamp with the date of 1942 and the Osaka Depot mark, as well as the mark of the inspector "Nishimoto". The exterior brown paint is essentially 100% intact. The stopper is the earlier cork style with aluminum top (from which there has been paint loss, as is usual with the aluminum material). The carrying strap and the stopper strap both utilize the early enameled buckles, a feature that was eliminated in 1943 to conserve metal. Overall the canteen and the harness are in excellent condition.
