WWII Japanese Civil Defense Firefighter's Hood
The large, padded, cotton cloth hood worn by Japanese Civil Defense firefighters and aid personnel in World War II. The natural cloth fabric of the hood was intended to prevent burning embers from igniting the material. The hood is designed with two snaps and a cloth tie so that the hood can be closed about the face, leaving only the eyes exposed. The hood has a long drape to cover the shoulder and to protect the neck from embers and an integral cloth visor to provide added protection. Excellent condition.
