On Hold

An 8 by 10 inch portrait photograph of Lieutenant General Omar N. Bradley from the Second World War, inscribed and signed by Bradly as a War Bond prize. The photograph bears the handwritten, printed dedication ":For Patriotic Service In War Loan Drive", and below the dedication it is signed "O.N. Bradley". The photograph is within its original World War II period frame, with the label of the framer on the reverse (Note that the telephone number is given as "BUtterfield 8-8337!). The photograph was obviously inscribed and signed by Bradley for presentation to an individual who had distinguished themselves through the sale of war bonds. The photograph shows Bradley wearing the three stars of a Lieutenant General. He was made a Lieutenant General in the Army of the United States on June 2, 1943, and it was in this capacity that Bradley served as commander of the U.S. First Army in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. The frame shows some typical scratches but overall the piece is in excellent condition.
