DESCRIPTION

The bayonet is a fine example of the pre-Third Reich police dress bayonet. There is excellent detail to the eagle head pommel. The stag antler grip plates are nicely toned, with splendid contour relief to the antler material and the grips are free of chips or cracks. The grip insignia of the Weimar eagle is firmly in place. The clamshell guard also features a nicely detailed eagle. The leather washer is in place at the top of the blade, and the ricasso beneath the clamshell bears the knight head logo of WKC, although the logo lacks the letters "WKC", indicating that the bayonet dates from the 1920's. The blade has typical light scratches but overall is quite bright, with one barely noticeable nick on the lower cutting edge of the blade. The black leather scabbard is somewhat dry with age, and there is a loss of some of the patent leather finish, but the scabbard throat and base are securely attached, the stitiching is tight, and there are no cracks or splits to the leather, with the scabbard being complete and intact.
